Ceiling Fan Installation
A new fan in place of an old fan or light fixture: assembled, hung on a suitable existing ceiling box, connected to the wiring that's already there, and balanced so it runs without a wobble.
What fan installation covers
Standard residential installs and replacements, using the wiring and ceiling box already in place.
Included
- Installing your fan — customer-provided
- Replacing an existing fan or a compatible ceiling light fixture
- Assembling the motor, downrod, blades and canopy
- Mounting to a suitable existing fan-rated ceiling box
- Connecting to the existing wiring at that location
- Fitting the light kit, if your fan has one
- Balancing and checking every speed, direction and the light
- Removing the old fixture and clearing packaging

- The fan, boxed, with all parts and hardware
- The fan's model number
- A photo of the current fixture and the ceiling
- Your ceiling height
- Which wall switch controls the fixture
Separate scope
- New wiring, a new circuit or panel work
- Adding a fan where there's no existing fixture
- Ceiling boxes that aren't rated or secure enough for a fan
- High or vaulted ceilings
- Unusually large or heavy fans
- Smart controls or switches that need extra wiring
- Cutting into or reinforcing the ceiling structure
Anything that needs a licensed electrician is outside this service. Mention it when you ask for a quote and we'll tell you plainly whether it's something we can do.

Power off at the breaker, old fixture down, box checked, fan hung and connected.

Every speed, direction and light tested, wobble corrected, packaging cleared.
Common questions
- Do I need to buy the fan?
- Yes. We install a fan you've bought. If you haven't chosen one yet, send a photo of the room and the ceiling height and we'll tell you what to look for, including downrod length.
- Can you put a fan where there's only a light?
- Often, yes — if the existing box is rated for a fan and secured to the ceiling structure. We check the box before hanging anything. If it isn't suitable, we'll tell you before going further.
- Can you add a fan where there's no fixture at all?
- Not as part of this service. That needs new wiring, which is outside our standard scope.
- How is it priced?
- Quoted from the fan, the ceiling height and what's being replaced, before anything is scheduled. No surprise add-ons on the day.
